Standing dead trees represent an essential component of any forest ecosystem, and are critical for the maintenance of healthy populations of all cavity-using wildlife. They play an essential role in the provision of nesting, roosting, denning, perching, and feeding sites for a variety of Ontario birds and mammals.

Maple trees are ideal for cavity-nesting birds, as their wood softens with age. As this 150 year old maple tree provides nesting opportunities to birds, we introduce the Dreamer’s Nest. A nest that hosts both the young and old and hopes to nurture one’s spirit, imagination and creativity.
